Help Us Grow!
What is Centre Gives?
Our biggest fundraiser!
Centre Gives is an annual, 36-hour online giving event sponsored by the Centre Foundation, and the best time of the year to donate to ACRES! Visit our Centre Gives page on May 8-9 to make a secure, tax-deductible donation.
During Centre Gives, your donation goes farther.
Not only does your gift directly benefit our innovative vocational programs for adults with autism, it also qualifies us for additional cash prizes and a larger portion of Centre Foundation's $200,000 stretch pool, giving you more bang for your buck! The more you give, the more the Centre Foundation donates to ACRES!
What will my donation be used for?
This year, the Acres Project hopes to raise $10,000 to build an aquaponics greenhouse, which will provide sustainable employment to adults on the autism spectrum while producing sustainable food for the Centre Region.
Aquaponics is a highly efficient method of farming with the unique ability to grow both fish and vegetables in tandem. Compared to conventional agriculture, aquaponics uses 90% less water to grow up to 20 times more food per acre, without the use of pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers. It reduces time to harvest by one-third, and produces a steady supply of fresh, nutritious fish and produce year-round. When complete, our system will be able to produce more than 200 lbs of fish and one ton of fresh produce every year, while providing sustainable employment for at least 10 individuals with autism. From maintaining the system to marketing our vegetables to local restaurants and community members, aquaponics will provide these individuals with an employment opportunity that fits. We need your help to make this dream a reality!
